Larkin Step

This is the song composed and lyrics written by ling86 on youtube that I am currently addicted to and raving about. Found it through mrbrown's site. She says "Larkin" refers to "Philip Larkin" but I don't know who is he and I can't find out who is it through her profile on youtube because her account got hacked and I don't know what's the status like now. In any case, enjoy!

Larkin Step

God he turned and walked away
I couldn't think of what to say
when plane engines fall through your roof
and I broke my knee while walking down the street that I live in
While no one was passing by

Chorus:
Life moves along and it trickles down the cheeks of every beautiful boy
Time moves along and it breaks every bone in your spine

And into the flight of night
Insomnia strikes
Hopes alight
We set ourselves up to fall
So we stargaze and we write down all the things that we'll do
Fall into the river our pockets full of stones
Full of stones..

Larkin's an English poet whose poetry is markedly fatalistic i.e. everything's dreary, we are all going to die, etc.

Ling tries to capture some of this fatalism in her song.

I've heard her live at the Singapore Art Cafe, and I think she has a beautiful voice and a wonderful ear for tunes.

But - and I sincerely apologise if I offend you - she writes crap lyrics.

A nice voice and a catchy tune in popular music can only get you so far; the next step for her to improve is for there to be more depth and maturity in her lyrics, especially to do with the subject matter she chooses to write about.

haha, I've only heard this one song of hers, so I don't know what are her other songs like. So no worries about offending me...
