Random note 1: Watch this - The Story of Stuff. Funny, engaging and informative. You'll never look at stuff in the same way again.

Asiya Akhat (Ассии Ахат) - Ya Luchshaya
Heard this song when watching this video. So here's the song. Not the video. The video's below the song. Haha, so confusing. For some reason the song sounds nicer when you're watching the video.
This is a Ukrainian song. You may not think much of it for the first time, try listening to it 2 - 3 times without watching the video and it gets a little addictive. Enjoy!

Make up: Romantic Look
*edit* In love with Asiya Akhat. Check out the rest of her videos on youtube. She's incredibly sexy can!
It's supposed to be played during the Green Carnival by SAVE in NUS some time in August, but I'm going to share it here with you people first. This is a 20 minute animation clip, very engaging and very powerful as well. It tells us where stuff comes from, how it comes about, how it affects people and the environment and ultimately where it all goes.
One thing that struck me in this clip was this - we don't really need all the stuff we buy. I mean, look around you. We have all these new clothes and accessories, some bought without a second thought then promptly forgotten. Worn once or twice then thrown away. We are simply oblivious to how much resources are used and how much harm done to produce that piece of clothing we buy on impulse and which ends up in the depths of our cupboard anyway, quite useless. And why do we keep buying stuff enthusiastically? To keep up with fashion, because we want to look good, because... *shrug*
Watch it, you'll get my point. Or rather, Annie Leonard's point. You'll really never look at stuff around you in the same way again.
A classic from The Sound of Music. Daphnemaia and Precious were somehow talking about this on ping.sg's shoutbox and daph gave me the link to this. As such I am now kind of addicted.
This is the ending theme song titled "Dango Daikazoku" of Clannad, a Japanese anime. Dango are actually Japanese dumplings.
When I first heard this song I thought it was completely absurd and childish, especially the beginning. However, the song turned out really nice and the more I listened to it, the more I liked it. It kind of tugs at heart strings. The one below has no English translation because the one I found did not allow us to embed the video. I'd urge you to watch the video with the English translation because the lyrics are really heart-warming. Hope you'll like it as much as I do!
This song's original singer is Minnie Riperton but this particular version is by Jane Zhang and recommended to me by a friend. Can't remember if it's Nasrul or seraphim or somebody else. Initially I didn't feel the song was any good because I am sure there were some parts where she kept going out of tune. The song itself is beautiful though and apart from the out-of-tune issue, Jane Zhang does have a nice voice. The lyrics do differ slightly from the original, no idea if it's on purpose or she forgot in lyrics and did some subbing in. If she did subbed in on the spot, she sure did it well. In any case, enjoy the song.
Lovin' You by Jane Zhang
Lovin' you is easy cause you're beautiful Lovin' you is all I wanna do Lovin' you I see your soul come shinin' through And everything that I do is out of lovin' you La la la la la la la... do do do do do
No one else can make me feel The colors that you bring Stay with me while we grow old And we will live each day in springtime
Cause lovin' you has made my life so beautiful Every day of my life is filled with lovin' you La la la la la la la... do do do do do
No one else can make me feel The colors that you bring Stay with me while we grow old And we will live each day in springtime
Cause lovin' you has made my life so beautiful Every day my life is filled with lovin' you And lovin' you I see your soul come shinin' through And every time that we oooooh I'm more in love with you La la la la la la la... do do do do do
Thanks to Benison for recommending me to this song. It's one song which grows on you the more you listen to it. The video is not the original MTV and I feel at some points does not entirely relay correctly what the song is trying to portray but it's probably cuter anyway, so I'm putting it here. I'm still in the midst of decoding the lyrics of the song. A touching song, nevertheless, with nice music.
I will Follow You Into The Dark by Death Cab for Cutie
Love of mine some day you will die But I'll be close behind I'll follow you into the dark
No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white Just our hands clasped so tight Waiting for the hint of a spark
If Heaven and Hell decide That they both are satisfied Illuminate the NOs on their vacancy signs If there's no one beside you When your soul embarks Then I'll follow you into the dark
In Catholic school as vicious as Roman rule I got my knuckles bruised by a lady in black
And I held my tongue as she told me "Son fear is the heart of love" So I never went back
If Heaven and Hell decide That they both are satisfied Illuminate the NOs on their vacancy signs If there's no one beside you When your soul embarks Then I'll follow you into the dark
You and me have seen everything to see From Bangkok to Calgary And the soles of your shoes are all worn down The time for sleep is now It's nothing to cry about Cause we'll hold each other soon The blackest of rooms
If Heaven and Hell decide That they both are satisfied Illuminate the NOs on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you When your soul embarks Then I'll follow you into the dark Then I'll follow you into the dark
This is the song composed and lyrics written by ling86 on youtube that I am currently addicted to and raving about. Found it through mrbrown's site. She says "Larkin" refers to "Philip Larkin" but I don't know who is he and I can't find out who is it through her profile on youtube because her account got hacked and I don't know what's the status like now. In any case, enjoy!
Larkin Step
God he turned and walked away I couldn't think of what to say when plane engines fall through your roof and I broke my knee while walking down the street that I live in While no one was passing by
Chorus: Life moves along and it trickles down the cheeks of every beautiful boy Time moves along and it breaks every bone in your spine
And into the flight of night Insomnia strikes Hopes alight We set ourselves up to fall So we stargaze and we write down all the things that we'll do Fall into the river our pockets full of stones Full of stones..
Yes I should be on hiatus, but I can't help it! This song is simply too lovely, and to be sung in such a manner in the anime, I totally fell in love with it. Oldies are really sometimes simply the best.
Take me home, Country Roads in Japanese film Mimi wo Sumaseba.
Almost heaven, West Virginia Blue ridge mountains Shenandoah river - Life is old there Older than the trees Younger than the mountains Growin' like a breeze
Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads
All my memories gathered round her Miners lady, stranger to blue water Dark and dusty, painted on the sky Misty taste of moonshine Teardrops in my eye
Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads
I hear her voice In the mornin' hour she calls me The radio reminds me of my home far away And drivin' down the road I get a feelin' That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday
Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads
Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads Take me home, now country roads Take me home, now country roads
Apologies for the lack of updates. I'm far too busy with school work (and feeling guilty over having done something really stupid), making preparations for the steamboat for next Saturday and meeting project mates at 9.30am in the morning at Orchard, to be able to do proper blog posts. Please don't give up on me!
Oh, those who are coming next Saturday for my birthday, would you please leave a comment if you see this and tell me, if I have not asked you, whether or not you have any problems with steamboat and if there are any foods you can't/don't eat/allergic to. Please do not be shy about telling me your food preferences, dismiss allergies as nothing much or consider it too troublesome for me because a party/gathering/whatever's focus is still about its participants (a.k.a my guests). So tell me and I'll see what I can do about it. I currently have a few friends who are allergic to prawns and a few who told me they eat anything except for the steamboat itself, the table and Stephanie.
Since I'm quite busy right now, here's a video done by AgentXPQ titled "Tales of mere Existence: I'm Not Going To Think About Her". An accurate and interesting video depicting what goes on in the mind when one has just broken up with his/her boy/girlfriend or simply when you miss somebody. He has made a few videos around the title of "Tales of mere existence" which is, I guess, basically the theme of everyday life. Check it out if you want to. Enjoy!
I produced this animation as a way of proposing to my girlfriend (now wife) Natasha. I assembled a team of 20 animators to assist me, including co-workers, as well as students from my 3D character animation class at the Art Institute of California-San Francisco. We created more than four minutes of animation in just three months. When it was completed, I surprised Natasha by bringing her to the Parkway Movie Theater in Oakland, where they played the animation on the big screen in front of over 100 of our friends and family. The entire event was filmed for the TLC television show "A Perfect Proposal."
JH gave me the link, I gave it to a couple of others including Ridzuan. Next I know, I see it on estee's blog and a few others. Here is the super cute video of Baby Ally. Though she's not technically a baby anymore.
A girl with a talent, a voice so fantastic I am truly amazed. And she's only 6 years old. Just as long as she does not turn out like Britney Spears if she becomes famous. Fame at a young age have a tendency to screw kids up because it inflates their ego and their heads, places unnecessary pressure on them to be always a certain way, to be what people want them to be. Pity too, because they were all so nice and sweet when they first started out.
There's this website like youtube, but named motiono. It even has a similar layout! Anyway here's a video I got when I clicked on the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button. It's a Japanese show, something like Gags - for laugh. It might be already on youtube though. Talk about Informational Social Influence.
Have you received the email where desktop icons fight each other? This video is way better. A seemingly innocent stick figure with a personality, and a violent one at that. Enjoy!
