CORS

Why is it that when I click on blogger's URL with the intention of blogging, I'd feel a great urge to pee. Then when I come back from the toilet, I'd have completely forgotten I need to blog or something more important would pop up in my mind...

Okok, excuses!

A few things related to bidding of modules for NUS students:

1) NUS students, if you do not yet know, today is the start of Round 1A of the bidding for your modules. If you are so happy partying away that you have forgotten the CORS's URL, you can click here. If you have forgotten what is "bidding" or think that Round 1A signals the start of some sumo-wrestling match, please go and read up.

If you have also forgotten your NUS WebMail URL, you can click here. Of course this is for those who have also very conveniently forgotten what's NUS website or that you can access everything from there.

If you are like somebody who went to Hong Kong and do shows until forget how many modules she has done or how many more she needs to graduate, you can check out GAPS.
Also, if you bear a resemblance to that particular person mentioned, you might like to know that school starts on 14th January 2008, which is the 2nd Monday of January for the 2nd semester, as it always has been.

2) And hor, you all seriously need to read announcements in CORS website. There's a New Workload Policy implemented from this CORS session onwards. It don't affect me that much since all my modules are 4MCs, but if you take modules that are lesser than 4 MCs, you might want to read why you now can't bid for more than than 5 modules from rounds 0 to 2C though the total number of MCs for these 5 modules fall below 20MCs. Also read for what to do and when you can bid for more than 5 modules.

FASS students, our maximum workload is 6 modules, no change. So anything below that is okay.

3) Because I'm a Psychology major, here's a mention on Psychology modules. If you do not yet know, there are some modules that are only open to ARS3 or ARS4 students. To see which are the modules, download the list here. By the way this is also in the announcements in CORS. Do note that if you are supposed to be in a particular year but your status in CORS shows that you are one year behind (for whatever reason) such that you can't access some modules, you can actually appeal through CORS. This applies even if you are like me, failed one module and was considered to be 1 year behind because I was short of 4MCs to be promoted.

4) I always thought the girl in the banner of CORS's logout page looked constipated:

Drowning in fluids

CORS started last week, but in my case I only start bidding this week. Got news that a GEM module, Living with fluids would be a sure score module so I have already set my heart on that. The only problem now is that with 10 minutes or lesser left to close bidding (meaning I can't see the bid points after that), the minimum bid point is at a horrendous 371 and I can't help but freak out.

Firstly, this means I'm up against a lot of competition and unfortunately I'm depending on this module to get an A, which means I'm not planning to S/U, which means it's not exactly going to be easy.

Secondly, I have been looking through other modules for an alternative and so far have found none. I can't take modules within my faculty because I need all the Programme points I have to bid for my psychology modules (which I have to get this semester), leaving only modules outside my faculty. Left only a couple of minutes to close bidding now, I guess I'll have to take this module and fight my way through it. Damn, I thought this round of bidding would be an easy one for me.

Living with fluids, indeed. Feel like I'm drowning in the sea of bid points more like it.
